La Paloma received a favourable review from an editor of Vitality Magazine in July of 2006.

"There’s no appetite left for dessert after such a generous dinner, so we shoulder our doggie bags and walk west on St Clair until we have a little room for more. That happens around Lansdowne, at La Paloma Gelateria and Café. This late open place with homemade Italian gelato and neon lights has about 5 times as many flavours as you’d find in any gelateria in Italy, as well as European coffees and crunchy biscotti. La Paloma’s gigantic cooler contains about 70 gelato choices that include flavours like caffe latte and chocolate made from soya for vegans, as well as seasonal flavours like fig and chestnut, neither of which are in season that night. So we go for the more traditional chocolate, pistaccio, hazelnut and lemon piled into a crunchy cone ($4 for two scoops). The gelato is smooth and delicious, not too sweet and packed with natural flavour. But while we were feeling fine and fairly energetic before dessert, almost immediately afterward we’re pretty much in an exhausted stupor. I suspect the coldness of the frozen gelato kind of shut down our digestive fire, which was still working on dealing with dinner.

So our advice is definitely go to La Paloma for gelato, but do it between meals….or right before bedtime. Maybe that’s why the place is open til 1 a.m. in the summer."
